What wholesale means for sealed Pokémon TCG
Buying Pokémon cards wholesale means buying sealed product by the box or the case from a supplier that receives allocation from distributors, instead of buying single retail items. Shops, online sellers and serious collectors buy this way because it is the only reliable route to new releases in quantity.
The formats you will be quoted on are booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles and special collections such as premium boxes and tins. An English booster box holds 36 packs. A Japanese booster box for a standard expansion holds 30 smaller packs, and Japanese special sets often come in smaller boxes.
Choose English, Japanese or both
Stock the language your customers ask for. Players in English-speaking events need English cards; many collectors prefer Japanese product, which also releases first. If you are unsure, our Japanese vs English booster box guide sets out the differences.
Pre-order new sets, buy in stock for the rest
New Pokémon sets are allocated by distributors before release, and the popular ones are allocated short: a supplier may receive only part of what it ordered. Pre-ordering puts you in the queue for that allocation. Older sets are bought from whatever stock is left in the market, at market prices.
Read how allocation is shared out before you commit. Our pre-order allocation guide explains how it works with us.
Ask for a quote with the right details
Wholesale prices for sealed trading cards move with each release, so most suppliers quote per order rather than publish a price list. A quote comes back faster when you send:
- the products, with language and set name
- the quantity of each, in boxes or cases
- the country the order ships to
- whether you accept a partial allocation on pre-orders
Shipping and import duties
Full cases are the most cost-effective way to ship sealed product: the carton is built for transit and the shipping cost is spread over more boxes. Smaller quantities can ship too, at a higher shipping cost per box. Import duties and taxes are set by the destination country and are usually paid by the buyer on arrival.
Check the supplier
Buy from a supplier that guarantees factory-sealed product, publishes its pre-order terms, issues an invoice for every order and names the company you are paying. Pay by traceable bank transfer and ask other buyers about their experience.
